Pontoon Rules
The British version from the world-famous game Blackjack is called Pontoon. The basic rules are the same as in a regular game Blackjack, but there are some differences. The main object of the game is to get a score greater than that of the dealer. If your score surpasses twenty-one, you have busted and you lose the hand.
The best hand in the game is a pontoon. You have a pontoon when your hand consists of a card with the value ten (10-jack-queen or king) plus an Ace. If you have pontoon and the dealer has not, you will be paid twice the amount of your bet. The other way around, when the dealer has pontoon and you don't, you'll have to pay twice your bet. In the rare case that both you and the dealer have a pontoon, you pay the dealer the value of your bet. When you have pontoon and the dealer has a five & under (also called 'Five Card Trick'), you will only be paid the value of your bet. If the banker has pontoon and you have a five & under, you must pay the banker the amount of your bet.
You have five & under when you have a hand of five cards, with a total that doesn't exceed twenty-one. When you have five & under, you will be paid twice the amount of your bet, unless the dealer has pontoon or also a five & under. In this case, you must pay him the value of your bet.
Card Values:
- Jack, Queen, King = 10 points
- Ace = 1 point or 11 points
- All the other cards = represent the points on the cards
Except for pontoon and five & under the same rules apply for Pontoon as for a traditional Blackjack game.
